CURRICULUM
Nejashi Ethio-Turkish International Schools follow an international based curriculum integrated with the national curriculum in English
medium of teaching.
The schools are K-12, therefore constitutes preschool,
primary and secondary education.
Preschool (kindergarten) education aims at preparation for
formal schooling with a focus on all rounded development of the child.
Primary education is structured within eight years duration
and has two cycles. The first cycle (grade 1-4) focuses on providing basic
primary education and the second cycle (grade 5-8) aims at general primary
education.
In grades 1-6, all students study English, Mathematics,
Amharic, Turkish, Integrated Science, Social Studies, PE & H, Information
and Communication Technology, Arts,
Music and Civics (starts at grade 5).
In grades 7-8, all students are taught English, Mathematics,
Amharic, Turkish, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies, PE & H,
Information and Communication Technology , and Civics.
Secondary education is of four years duration consisting
two years (grade 9-10) of general secondary education that enables students
identify their interests for further education and specific training.
In grades 9-10, all students study English, Mathematics,
Amharic, Turkish, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, PE & H,
Information and Communication Technology , and Civics.
The second cycle of secondary education (grade 11-12)
enables students to choose subjects or areas of training which prepare them a
adequately for higher education.
In grades 11-12, all students study English, Mathematics,
Amharic, Turkish, PE & H,
Information and Communication Technology, Civics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography. Economics, Business and
Technical Drawing ( the last eight subjects are taught according to the
stream (Science or Social) chosen by the student .
In addition to the compulsory subjects which are taught at
different grade levels, French, Arabic, Chess and Drama classes are
available as electives. And all students are encouraged to participate in club activities to improve their social skills as well.
Students are prepared by arranging supplementary classes
both for the national exams [ (for Ethiopian nationals only) Primary
School Leaving Certificate Examination (PSLCE) after grade 8, Ethiopian General
Secondary Education of Certificate Examination (EGSECE) after grade 10 and
Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Certificate Examination (EHEECE) after
grade 12 ] and International exams [ (for all nationals) such as SAT, IGCSE, IELTS
and TOEFL ].
Besides, supplementary texts and course books are harmonized
to ensure highest academic achievement for all national and international
exams.
Hence, the integrated curriculum followed by Nejashi
Ethio-Turkish International Schools offers a wide range of
choice for all students and covers all the subject areas which are necessary
for a complete K-12 education.
