OUR UNDERSTANDING OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Another Relief Event Organized by Our Schools

A group of Turkish volunteers representing a Turkish International Relief Organization, "Kimse Yok Mu” (meaning Is there Anyone), came to Addis Ababa to participate in a relief event and celebrated the Eid Al-Adha festivity together with the Ethiopians on October 03, 2014. The volunteers comprised of businessmen, teachers, doctors, lawyers, students and members of some alumni distributed raw meat and clothes to needy people regardless of their ethnicity or religion.

The relief event was organized by our schools in cooperation with the "Kimse Yok Mu" volunteers in the frame of understanding of social responsibility of our schools. The arrangements such as the slaughtering of the animals and packaging of raw meat in the abattoirs, getting permission from federal and regional authorities, arranging the federal and local police support and making links with the churches, mosques and orphanages to reach the needy people were made by our schools. Most of the teachers, students and graduates accompanied the volunteers as their guides and supported them by manpower when necessary.

A gratitude dinner at Alemgena Campus was organized by our schools on Saturday, October 4 with the participation of the Mayor of Sebbata Municipality, officials and diplomats, parents, teachers, and school administrators. The dinner was followed by the shows performed by our students and the program ended with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to each volunteer participated in the relief event.
